5 Things You Can Do to Be More Creative During COVID Isolation

Staying at home does not mean that you can’t be creative! We have compiled 5 things that you can do at home to keep those creative juices flowing, from painting and decorating your space to painting while sipping wine, we got you covered!

Surround yourself with colours that encourage creativity

The psychology around colour has been such an interesting subject, and it is no secret that our environment affects how we think, work, and feel. Studies have found that certain colours can evoke emotions.

According to research, there are two colours that have been found to stimulate creativity: blue and green. Who would have thought that the colours that represent nature (blue skies and greeneries) are considered as creativity-promoting colours!

This is what studies reported: blue is a naturally calming colour and has been regarded as the ideal colour environment for creatives. According to the studies done by the University of British Columbia, the colour blue promotes communication, trust and efficiency.

In addition, green is another colour that promote creativity and has been found to trigger “the type of pure, open (mental) processing required to do well on creativity tasks”. The colour green also promotes balance, innovation, and harmony.

Time to paint those walls with nature’s colours!

Set up a designated space for art and craft

Thinking of ways on how to improve your home decor game and productivity?

One simple thing you can do is have a dedicated space where you feel most happy to create. It doesn’t have to be fancy or extravagant. You can start with a favourite corner and build your craft space there. We love this idea so much! Not only you have your own special spot to be creative and to create wonderful art, you are also able to visually see all the things that sparks joy!

Have a peek on Pinterest ideas on how you can set a dedicated gorgeous space in your home.

Have plants in the home (plus you can paint on the pots too!)

We know that green promotes balance, harmony, and creativity; so why not have more green in your home? And honestly, who doesn’t like MORE plants at home? I know I do.

Have a look HERE at our favourite greens and plants that inspire creativity. If you don’t consider yourself having the greenest thumb, fake/artificial plants are the way to go! One less thing to take care of, but still having the same impact as looking at a real green plant! Win win!

Also, you can bring it up a level further and have more colours by painting the pots and planters. Check out this DIY tutorial on how to paint terracotta pots to make it a WOW factor!

Virtual craft night with friends

Another idea you can do at home is to host a virtual craft party can be as super fun and be filled of laughter! When you are stuck at home, seeing and hearing your dear ones can help with mood and can also help us be more connected and happy!

All you need to do is pick a craft activity to do, send or ask everyone to gather the supplies, log in to Zoom or Skype, and have FUN! At the end of your virtual party, not only you get to have fun with your friends, you also get to admire YOUR own creation! (Cue to pat your shoulders because you did such a good job).
